Music downloads are set to increase 10-fold by 2010 to account for 15% of all music sold in the UK, research today predicts.
By 2010 the average uk user is said to spend up to £15 per month on music downloads this is an increase of 15% according to PayPals digital content report. A possibly reason for this rapid increase may be the fact that tracks are becoming more regularly available, at the cost of only 60p per track.
Music downloads on mobile telephones are said to become more popular as downloads are set to increase to £200 million by 2010.Other forms of download set to benefit by this boom are films,tv and video clips which are quickly becoming available on the universal market. Consumer buyng power is said to increase from £380 million to 1.14 billion in 2010 The final word came from Carl-Olav Scheible a PayPal Europe spokesman who stated "The music download industry will grow dramatically over the coming five years,consumers will shift music purchasing to online services as devices change and digital storage increases and CD's become less wide spread."
