Woman firing a ball-bearing gun at police is shot dead.
A woman was shot dead by firearms officers in the early hours of 11th June for targeting police firearms officers with a ball bearing gun.
A woman shot dead by police firearms officer with a single bullet to the chest was named as 37 year-old Ann Sanderson. Witnesses said they held a female officer shouting "drop your weapon," followed by "a very, very loud bang." Another witness who saw the weapon said that the weapon looked realistic, which may explain why the police took such direct action and that the victim Ann, was firing firstly at CCTV cameras, and then turned to target officers when a ffemale firearms officer fired a single gunshot. The shot ripped through Ann Sanderson's chest and officers requested an ambulance, and delivered first aid, but th woman died at the scene.
The firearms officer who fired the shot was taken off frontline duties, but not suspended.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is launching an investigation into the shooting, but have so far refeused to comment.
