Can Murrays form take him to the top before Wimbledon?
John McEnroe compliments the young tennis star by saying 'You don't see many guys with this natural ability to make it look so easy' - he then sets the challenge of being ranked in the top 5 by Wimbledon fortnight.
19 year old Andy Murray is currently ranked 13th in the world and has seen a quick rise up the rankings over the past few months thanks to recent successes in San Jose, Doha and the Australian Open. It was apparent that in the 2006 Wimbledon tournament that Murray's weakness was his fitness and he has been working on this and it is clear to see that he is physically stronger than ever.
Murray is still determined to get to the top and says 'I still feel like I can play way better' after winning the San Jose open. He says his recent improvements are thanks to his new coach Brad Gilbert.
The question now is, had McEnroe set the bar too high? will Murray be able to live up to the expectations of the public? Murray has not reacted well to the pressure placed on him over the past but has his new found form and fitness changed his reaction to the pressure?
Murray almost had the chance to meet Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the Australian open but he failed to beat Andy Roddick of the USA in the fourth round so Murray will have to wait until next time for the chance to see if he can beat the World Number 1.
