No charges for police officers
Police officers that shot Jean Charles de Menezes dead in the mistaken belief that he was a terrorist will not face charges, prosecutors said on Monday.
The innocent Brazilian was shot seven times in the head last year following the London bombings by Metropolitan police officers, who had been following Mr de Menezes for some time before they shot him. He was wearing a bulky coat that could have contained a bomb.
State prosecutors have decided that the Metropolitan Police force will be prosecuted under health and safety laws.
