Birmingham Boudicca!
Is a Birmingham McDonalds restaurant the burial ground of Queen Boudicca?
Queen Boudicca who died in 62 AD led the East Anglia's Iceni tribe in battle against the romans. She became queen of the tribe when her husband Prasutagus died. It is thought the battle may have taken place in the Midlands.
An excavasion is to take place at the site after evidence has been found of Roman remains buried there. However Mike Hodder, an archaeologist at Birmingham City Council said, "There is no doubt that it is an important archaeological site, with reamians which are probaly Roman in date, but there is no eveidence whatsoever of any link with Boudicca."
An archaeology expert from Birmingham University was also sceptical about the find. He said, "The short answer is we don't know where the battle took place, anybody's guess is as good as anyone else's." He also added, "It would be fascinating if it were true but, as yet, I haven't seen any evidence it is."
So the search goes on to find out if it is in fact Queen Boudicca's burial place.
