Home office figures show a rise of 9% in stalking figures in the last year.
Men and women in Britain are more at risk now than ever before due to this growing problem.
This type of crime usally occurs when partners have trouble accepting that relationships have ended, or when people become obsessed with people outside a relationship.
A recent case showed even Catherine Zeta Jones had a stalker who was hounding her because the women stalker had become obsessed with her husband husband Michael Douglas, she sent the actress letters threatening to harm the star.
It is not uncommon behaviour for people to be threatened through the post, with stalkers sending poison pen letters and threatening messages.
