Cork Banned For Outburst
Former England all-rounder Dominic Cork has been banned from Lancashire's first 50-over match of Summer 2007 due to abusive remarks to a doping control official.
Dominic Cork will not be participating in the Lancashire's 50-over match of Summer 2007. He was found guilty of abusing a doping control official in the aftermath of the C&G Trophy Final between Sussex and Lancashire.
As well as the one match ban at the start of the season, he will also be fined a further £1500 and on top of this will be obliged to pay £1000 towards the cost of the hearing. He apologised to official concerned some time after.
The Disaplinary panel released a statement today which read, "In mitigration, Mr Cork said that his remarks were made when he was in a highly emotional state following Lancashire's defeat. The panel accepted that Mr Cork was highly emotional, but he had belittled the official in the presence of his Lancashire team-mates. It was a matter of concern that no one present in the dressing room had attempted to defuse the situation."
