Cricket world shocked by murder of Bob Woolmer
Pathologist's report indicates strangulation
Jamaican police announced last night that Bob Woolmer, ex-England cricketer and Pakistan coach, was murdered on Friday after Pakistan were defeated by Ireland in the World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC), said that the World Cup would continue even though Woolmer's murder which has overshadowed the seven-week tournament being played in the Caribbean for the first time.
The ICC Chief Excutive Malcom Speed said "Perhaps it will be a measure of the game and its resolve as to how we can complete this World Cup in view of this shock." In the murder inquire the Jamaican police say that British, South African and Pakistan forces have been contacted over the investigation. The Pakistan team flew from Kingsinton to Montego Bay in Jamaica after being questioned by the police. There spokesmen Pervez Mir said"It's a very, very scary situation for us."
Zimbabwe in their first game in the competion beat Pakistan by three wickets.
