The England midfielder awarded an MBE
The 26 - year - old England vice captain was awarded an MBE on wednesday from the queen. Partly because of his impotant role in liverpool's champions league triumph over AC milan in 2005. The footballer who is well known for his dedication to liverpool football club said meeting the queen had left him feeling nervous but proud he also so said "i've played in important games with famous people but i've never experienced anything like this,it's a completly different feeling compared to football. Because in football I know what I'm going to do but today is an important day for me and a proud day for me." The england midfielder was joined by his partner Alex, but did not bring his to young daughters Lilly-Ella and lexie as he joked that they would have made to much noise for the quiet ceremony. The England midfielder also hopes to tie up a perfect week by defeating Isreal in this weeks European qualifiers and that would give England 10 points and could take them to second place in the table.
