7/7 Suspects Being Held By Police
The 7/7 suspects have been arrested by the police on Thursday.
Three suicide bombers have been arrested by the police on Thursday in connection with 7/7 which killed 52 people and injured many more. Searches are being carried out in East London, Leeds and nothern London cities where three of the bombers lived in.
Two of the men were detained shortly before 1 pm in Manchester Airport. They were trying to board a plane to Karachi, Pakistan. The third was arrested in Leeds. The bombers were Mohamed SIdique Khan aged 30, Shazad Tanweer 22, Hasib Hussain 18 and Jamican-born Germaine Lindsay 19 who lived in Aylesbury .
Police also searched a business and apartment in East London. It was unclear why they wanted to go to Pakistan. Khan and Tanweer have recently been to Pakistan and the authorities suspected they were seeing Al Qaeda figures. There are no clear links if the group is connected with Al Qaeda and how they were funded.
Police arrested at least 1,000 terrorist suspects in the U.S. since 9/11. Half of them were released without charge.
