Five years on, the patients are doing well, with improved mobilty and no immune problems says Lancet.
The surgeon said refinements of the procedurer may provide an alternitive to standerd theropies.But the doctors say replicating this techniques for more complex areas like the lower back-the most common source of problems. The resultys show that there is a limited movement and may digenerate elsewhere.
Artificial discs have shown success but may porduce serious complication in the neck region.
Vertebral discs are the spine shock absobers fitting tightly between the bones of the spinal column,but undestress the discs in the material may swell pushing tough outer membrane onto surrounding nervs causing excruciating pain.Transplant have never successfuly been carried out on humans untill now.
